Simple Chess Strategies to make chess simple
Chess is the oldest known skill game of the world. Historically it has been observed that the players who have a well disguised plan in their minds are the most successful ones. Chess needs high level of concentration and mental ability. We are here to discuss some simple chess strategies.
It is often said that leaving pawns alone or isolated can be quiet dangerous, in fact trying to keep the pawns close to each other is a better practice. Arrangement of pawns in an ‘inverted V’ shape is said to be stronger than the ‘V’ shaped arrangement. We should also avoid keeping two pawns side by side and in an arrangement where they block the movement of bishops. Trying to get a pawn in the opponent’s area and then defending it is quiet a good and established practice as it breaks their movement.
The knights work well in the locked areas, they can create a big nuisance if posted at D6 and E6 squares. We should try to use the knights at the centre of the board and in the beginning of the game when the number of opponents is large. Waiting to make the knights play at the end of the game is not considered as a good practice.
Using the bishops in pairs can provide a definite advantage. As the bishops work in diagonals, a player must provide ample free diagonal space for the bishops. Bishops are well suited for damage at the end of the game. If bishop pair have an open diagonal space to reach the opponents castle positions, they can be of great use in your attack on the king and can prove better than a pair of knights. Rooks also work well in open files and can be dangerous for the opponent when positioned in the 7th and 8th row.
A queen needs the help and support of the subordinates at the end of the game, we should always avoid taking the queen too far beyond in the opponents area initially.
The King is always a liability if it is positioned at its original position, and can be favorite target of the opponent castle. We should try keeping the King near a group of pawns. Both Kings on the same side of the board are less prone to attack. Moreover we should avoid moving the same piece twice. We should try to take the control of the center of the board as soon as possible. The last and the best strategy for a chess player would be keeping an eye on what the opponent is trying to do and keeping some plans in mind. In case of failure of one plan the players should immediately switch to the other plan.
